  • Adoption of a person even after the statutory maximum age of 15 years prescribed under the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act,1956 is "valid" provided local customs permit it the Supreme Court has ruled. 
  • Most of the Top 50 Indian Universities have remarkably improved their H-index scores in the latest ranking by Delhi's National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTDS).Top five Universities are University of Hyderabad, University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Jadavpur University, Panjab University, and University of Pune. 
  • The fourth edition of Poultry India - 2010, an annual event organised by Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA) was held in Hyderabad.
  • The longstanding wish of an estimated 11 million NRIs for voting right in India has become true with notification issued by Central Government. Before this during the monsoon session of Parliament Representation of People (Amendment) Bill 2010 was passed to enable the voting for NRIs.
  • Union Telecom Minister, Kapil Sibal launched the Mobile Number Portability in the state of Haryana. Haryana became the first in the country to have this facility. This facility will help the users to retain the telephone number if the service provider is changed.
  • National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) conducted a workshop in Hyderabad on the issue of Seeds-Industry-Banks. NABARD Managing Director, Dr. K.G. Karmakar calls for the development of seeds to help the agriculture in India.
  • The Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed the appeal to seek information on the religion practiced by Sonia Gandhi under Right to Information (RTI) Act. The appeal was filed by former Haryana DGP PC Wadhwa was quashed on the grounds that the information available with Census Officer is Sonia's private matter can not be made public.
  • Janata Dal United (115) and their allies Bharatiya Janata Party (91) together won 206 Assembly seats against the total of 243 Assembly constituencies in Bihar 
  • A division bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court said that the idea of gold plating the sanctum sanctorum at Tirumala is illegal, unconstitutional and without jurisdiction as the rare inscription on the walls will be destroyed.

  • Eight Knowledge Millennium Summit 2010 - 2020: Decade of Innovations was held in New Delhi. Former President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and ASSOCHAM President, Swati Piramal addressed on the issues of food security, energy and water.
  • The Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Adolescent Girls or also called as 'Sabla' was launched by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram as a pilot project for implementation in 200 districts.

  • Prithviraj Chavan sworn in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra after replacing Ashok Chavan, who has resigned with corruption allegations in Adarsh Housing Society meant for Kargil martyrs. 
  • Ashok Chavan's resignation was accepted as Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Suresh Kalmadi was removed as Secretarty of Congress Parliamentary Party by Congress high command due to the corruption allegations on Adarsh Housing Society and Commonwealth Games respectively. 
  • The Union Cabinet approved the Protection of Women against Sexual Harassment at Workplace Bill 2010. This bill ensures safe working environment for women at public, private, organised and unorganised sectors 
  • Supreme Court said that dowry killings are to be treated as the 'rarest of rare' ones and extreme punishment of death should be awarded. The judgment was awarded in the case of Geeta & Satya Narayan Tiwari's case. 
  • A Division Bench of AP High Court comprising Justice Ghulam Mohammad and Justice B Chandra Kumar refuses to stay the recruitment process of DSC-2008 scheduled to commence from Nov. 3rd, 2010. 
  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mayawati launches people's welfare programme called "Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Mahamaya Garib Arthik Madad Yojna" to disburse Rs.300 per month to the eligible poor in the State
