  • Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has awarded the prestigious Pushkin Gold Medal to Professor Arun Mohanty of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Moscow for his contribution to studies on Russia and promotion of bilateral cultural ties and friendship. The Pushkin Gold Medal is the highest honorary award given in recognition of outstanding contributions to the promotion of the Russian language and culture. More than 10 Indian scholars and public figures have been awarded the medal since its institution in 1977.
  • Industrialist Sitaram Jindal announced the institution of Five Annual Prizes of Rs.1 crore each on behalf of the Sitaram Jindal Foundation, the aluminium magnate said these would be given away to people working in the categories of rural development and poverty alleviation, health including drugless therapy, education with an emphasis on moral fortification, science, technology and environment, and peace, social harmony and development.
  • Union minister of urban poverty alleviation and culture Kumari Sileja was selected for the Eashwari Bai Memorial Award at Hyderabad. 
  • Dravidian University, Vice-Chancellor Cuddapah Ramanaiah received the prestigious ‘Amity Academic Excellence Award' at the International Business Horizon (INBUSH) conference held at the Amity Global Business School campus at Noida recently. 
  • Dr. K. Anji Reddy, Chairman, Dr Reddys Labs, was awarded with the Genome Valley Excellence award at the eighth edition of Bio-Asia, a Global Bio-Business forum, in Hyderabad on 22 February.
  • A project on the use of geoinformatics in the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 in Maharashtra by the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI), Pune has been given the national e-governance award, 2010-11(silver) in Aurangabad. 
  • Ajay Parida, Executive Director,M.S,Swaminathan Research Foundation, has been selected for the prestigious TATAinnovation fellowship of the Department of Biotechnology,Government of India. 
  • The King's Speech continued its regal progress through the awards season, winning the Best Film award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards ceremony in London.Colin Firth(The kings Speech)and Natalie Portman(Black Swan) have bagged the Best actor and Best Actress Awards. 
  • Dr. Singh presented the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed awards to eminent journalist M.J. Akbar (the recipient for 2008) and noted Gandhian and freedom fighter Hema Bharali (for 2009) in Guwahati. 
  • V. Shanta, chairperson of the Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai, has been selected for the Y. Nayudamma Memorial Award for 2010.Dr. Shanta has been chosen in recognition of her tireless efforts for over five decades towards bringing solace to lakhs of men, women and children, afflicted with the dreaded disease in the country,Justice N.V. Ramana of the Andhra Pradesh High Court will present her the award at a function at Tenali, Andhra pradesh on March 5.

  • Salim's novel 'Kuluthunna Poola Thota' (Telugu) on background of AIDS, was selected for the Union Governments - Sahitya Academi Award for the year-2010.

  • Udaan (Produced by Sanjay Singh, Anurag Kashyap and directed by Vikramaditya Motawane serewale) bagged total 7 film fare awards where as dabang got 5.
  • Sydney peace foundation awarded the rare gold medal for significant contribution to peace and justice to the wiki leaks publisher Jualian Assange. This honour previously given only to the Dalailama, Nelson Mandela and japanese Buddhist leader Dai Sekn - Ikeda in the foundations 14 years history. 
  • The gold medal is different from the annual Sydney peace prize awarded by the Sydney foundation. 
  • The doyen of Indian statistics Prof. C.R.Rao conferred with Guy medal in gold of the Royal Statistical Society, U.K. He is the first Asian, first non-European and first non-American to get the coveted award.
  • Pondicherry central University will confer honorary doctorates on cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and Noble Laureate Venkataraman Ramakrishnan.
  • Karnataka State Women University at Bijapur has conferred an award of Honoraray Doctorate to the Union Minister of State for HRD, D. Purandhareshwari. 
  • Doordarshan Hyderabad News Correspondent, Emani krishna Rao has bagged the prestigious Swiss TV award for his entry 'Lets Play Safe' dealing with stigma and discrimination attached to children living with HIV. The award was presented to him at Basel, Switzerland. This is the six major international award for him. 
  • nited India Insurance Company has won the skoch Financial Inclusion Award-2010. It is for successful implementation of the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana in Kerala.
  • The ONGC's Rajahmundry (AP) Asset manager, Mr. A.A.Khan was given Subir Raha Award for Business Excellence for 2010.
  • The Engineering Staff college of India (ESCI), Hyderabad has won the Golden Peacock National Training Award for the forth time. 
  • The CEAT international cricketer of the year-shane watson (Australia) International Team of the year-Australia. 
  • Natalie Portman' received the award for best female actor in a leading role for "Black Swan" at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles. 
  • Emani Krishna Rao', Doordarshan News Correspondent at Hyderabad has bagged the prestigious Swiss TV award for his entry 'Let's play safe'dealing with stigma and discrimination attached to children living with HIV. The award was presented to him at Basel,Switzerland. This is the sixth major international award for Mr.Rao.
