• Pranab Mukharjee was conferred with the Tilak Award by the Tilak trust.
  
• Myanmar opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi was awarded the Mahatma Gandhi International Award for Reconciliation and Peace at a ceremony on Monday night in South Africa.T he Gandhi Development Trust in the port city of Durban has made the award.
  
• President Pratibha Patil presented the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development to Microsoft founder Bill Gates for his charity work
  
  Gates received the prize on behalf of his $38 billion Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The foundation has been working for a range of issues; including HIV/AIDS.
  
• Mr Madhavan Nair was conferred with MP Birla memorial award.
