  • Amartya sen was honoured with the ‘Rabindra Smriti Puraskar’ to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, in Kolkata. 
  • R.S. Bitola would be the new chairman of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL)
  • Mikkilineni Radhakrishna Murthy (96) - Veteran Telugu film actor and founder of Praja Natya Mandali, passed away after suffering from urinary tract in Vijayawada. Murthy acted in nearly 150 films with N.T. Rama Rao and in almost all the Vitalacharya movies. The Andhra University conferred upon him the Kalaprapoorna title.
  • The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the public sector National Aluminium Corporation Limited (NALCO) Abhay Kumar Srivastava, in the bribery case.
  • Mullapudi Venkataramana(80)-Noted Telugu story writer, Mullapudi Venkata Ramana, who won the hearts of people through the adorable child character, ‘Budugu', and a host of others in Telugu films, passed away in Chennai on 24 February after a brief illness. Pairing up with his long-time friend, Bapu, Ramana penned stories and dialogues for several movies. Enduring characters like Contractor (in Muthyala Muggu) and Tutti (Mister Pellam) that flourished from his pen, remain unforgettable. A versatile wordsmith, he was known for his writings laced with wit and humour. Bapu and Ramana worked in tandem for nearly six decades; the former giving artistic expression to the latter's writings. The writer-producer-illustrator-filmmaker duo made some of the most endearing films -- pure family entertainers. Ramana wrote for films like Sakshi, Mister Pellam, Radhagopalam, Budhi Manthudu and Andala Ramudu.
  • Major Mitali Madhumita became the First Woman Officer to receive a Gallantry Award in the Army. She was honoured with 21 Army personnel for acts of bravery and distinguished service at the military station here
  • Marc Grossman- He was appointed as the United State’s special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan. 
  • Silvio Berlusconi-Italian Prime Minister, he is to stand trial on charges of abuse of power and paying underage prostitutes for sex — a crime in Italy despite the fact that prostitution is legal and the age of consent is 14. The trial is scheduled to open on April 6 according to a statement released by the judiciary. The Prime Minister will be tried by a bench of three woman judges.

A Huge amount of foreign currency of about Rs. 17 cr. has been seized from his sidhbaris (Dharmasala) Gyuto Tantric temple, H.P. by the police. 
  • K.Satchidananda Murthy (87) - died at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Distinguished Philosopher, Prolific writer and policy maker in Higher Education. He was conferred with B.C. Roy National Award, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan (2001) Awards. 
  • Kamal Nath - Union Minister for Urban Development, has been Summoned by a New york court for his alleged role in the Anti-sikh riots in 1984. The summons related to a case field by a NGO which calls itself sikhs for justice in a New york court. 
  • Andre Agassi - This U.s. Tennis legend inducted into International Hall of Fame. 
  • Ram Baran Yadav - Nepal President, visited Tirupathi and Salarjung museum at Hyderabad. He arrived Andhra Pradesh during his 10-day India visit.

  • Md.El.Baradi: Former International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Chief and Pro-democracy reformer in Egypt. Presently leading the 'National Association for Change'. He is playing a key role in protesting movement against Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and demanding his immediate step down.
