- Leslie Nielsen, best known for his role as cop in 'Naked Gun' dies at the age of 84 in Florida due to ill health. Nielsen born in Regina, Canada in 1926 and moved to Hollywood in 1950 and performed in number of live telivision dramas.
- Two Indian farmers, Hemchandra Patil and Rajendra Patil from Maharashtra addressed the Business School of Harvard University on drip irrigation system.
- Rahat Taslim(37) from Giridih, Jharkhand has become the first contestant to win the prize money of Rs.1 crore in the fourth season of game show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
- The Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology of Karnataka, Katta Subramanya Naidu resigned to his post due to the irregularities in land allotment and Lokayukta filing FIR against him.
- Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy tendered his resignation from the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat and also quits from Congress party.

- Chinthakindi Mallesham of Sharajipet in Nalgonda Dist selected by the Forbes Magazine as one of the 'seven most powerful rural enterpreneurs'. Mallesham who dropped the school in eighth class invented Laxmi Asu Machine to ease the work of handloom weavers.

- Dr. Ashish Patil, Director of Urology Institute from Dhule in Maharashtra entered into Guinnes Book of World Records by removing 1,72,155 kidney stones from the patient of Dhanraj Wadile.
