  • Kingfisher’s Forbes India team has won 8 points for the first time in F1 Belgian Grand Prix with Fischichella achieving 2nd rank.
  • India’s mixed doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and V Diju won the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold over Malaysia’s Peng Soon Chan and Liu Ying Goh.
  • Russian Yelena Isinbayeva set world record in Pole vault held at Zurich Golden League Meet.
  • Roger Federer has won the Cincinnati Masters title beating Novok Djokovic.
  • Rubens Barichello (Brazil) has won F1 European Grand prix.
  • Olympic bronze medal winner Vijender Singh achieved a career-high second rank in the International Boxing Association’s (AIBA) official rankings. Among other Indians, Beijing Olympics quarterfinalist Akhil Kumar has been placed ninth in the feather weight (57kg).
  • Kenenisa Bekele has won the world championship in 5000m and 10000m running consecutively for the fourth time.
  • Dubois won the Vancouver final beating Sania Mirza.
  • Jamaica’s Usain Bolt obliterated his own 100 meters World record to win the World championship final in a breathtaking 9.58 seconds. He also created world record in 200m running by completing in 19.19seconds.
  • South Korean golf star Yang Yong-Eun beat world number one Tiger Woods by two strokes and won the PBA Golf Champions tournament.
  • Mahesh Bhupati and Knowles has won the Montreal tennis title.
  • Lin Dan won his third straight world title defeating second-seeded fellow Chinese and World No. 2 Chen Jin in men’s singles final in the BWF World badminton championship.

    In the women’s final seventh-seeded Lan Lu of China defeated two-time world champion and fifth-seeded Xie Xingfang. 
  • World Badminton Championship started at Hyderabad. England did not participate in the championship due to security reasons. 
  • India is the Asia Youth Chess Champion. Second place goes to Vietnam. 
  • India stood at third place in the world junior squash championship. Egypt stood at first place.
