- Chennai Super Kings defeated the Eastern Cape Warriors by eight wickets in the final of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament at the Wanderers Stadium
- Iran defeated India and won the Asian Senior Volleyball Championship.
- Pankaj Advani created history by winning World Billiards Championship after defeating nine times champion Mike Russel at the Northern Snooker Centre on Sunday night (September 6), in Leeds.
- India's MC Mary Kom won her fifth World women's boxing title in Bridgetown ( Barbados). The Manipuri brave heart, who had won her four earlier titles in the 46kg category, this time won in the 48kg class beating her Romanian opponent Duta Seluta 16-6.
- Rafael Nadal won US Open and completed career slam. The victory is also noted for being the title that would complete his Grand Slam set. He is the 7th player in the world to complete this feat, as well as being the 4th player to be victorious at 3 consecutive Grand Slam events since 1968.
- US OPEN 2010 Men’s Singles title was by Rafael Nadal defeating Novak Jokovich.
Women’s Singles title was by Kim Clijsters defeating Vera Zvonareva. - Sushil Kumar created history by becoming the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Moscow.
- The Indian men's archery team won gold in the World Cup archery stage IV meet in Shanghai. The Indians also picked up one silver and a bronze medal.
