- Sania-Martina wins Indian Wells Open
Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis have lifted the women's doubles trophy of the Indian Wells Open tennis tournament at California. The top seeded Indo-Swiss team sailed past the Russian pair of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in straight sets. It was Sania's 24th career title, and the second doubles trophy this year. - Djokovic won Indian wells crown
Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer and successfully defended his Indian Wells crown and claim his 50th career ATP title on 23rd March.
Djokovic (Serbia) also captured his fourth Indian Wells crown and is now tied with world No. 2 Federer for the most men’s titles in the California desert.. Djokovic surpassed his coach Boris Becker (49) to become the 12th player in Open era history with 50 ATP Tour titles. - Surya Shekhar Ganguly triumph
Grandmaster Surya Shekhar Ganguly downed Cuban counterpart Ortiz Suarez Reynaldo to tally 7.5 points and annexed the crown in the final day of LIC international Grandmasters Chess on 24th March.
The tournament, organised by Dibyendu Barua Chess Academy and Allsport Foundation.This was the first international title for Ganguly after a break of more than two years. His last triumph came in November 2012 when he won Fujairah International Chess Championship in UAE. - Srikanth wins Swiss Open
Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth clinched the Swiss Grand Prix Gold championship title after overcoming a strong challenge from Viktor Alexson in a hard-fought men's singles final at Basel on 15th March. - Indian eves beat Poland 3-1 in HWL R2 final
India defeated Poland and clinched the FIH World Hockey League Round 2 at Major Dhyan Chan stadium in New Delhi on 15th March. - India entered into semi finals
By defeating Bangladesh by 109 runs, India has entered into semi finals in the ongoing world cup in Australia, a few records were created in this world cup....
India won 11 matches consecutively in world cups, this is next only to Australia’s 25 consecutive victories between 1999-2011
In the match Rohit Sharma made a century, his average in Melbourne cricket ground is 83.75, It is highest by any batsmen in world. His total in this ground is 335 runs.
Rohit Sharma is the third overseas batsman after Vivian Richards and David Gower to hit consecutive centuries in this ground

- Guptill hit 35 boundaries , it is the second most in ODIs. The only player to hit more boundaries is Rohit Sharma of India. Roiht hit 42 (33 fours and 9 sixes) during his innings of 264) against Srilanka
- Ian Gould becomes 15th umpire to stand in 100 ODIs
Ian Gould became the 15th umpire to stand in 100 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) when he took the field in the Australia versus Sri Lanka match in World Cup 2015 at Sydney cricket ground on 7th March. Gould joined the first-class umpires' panel in England in 2002 and was elevated to the Emirates International Panel of International Cricket Council (ICC) Umpires in 2006. Apart from his 100 ODIs, he stood in 43 Tests and 29 Twenty20 Internationals. Gould has also umpired in World Cup 2007 and 2011, as well as in the Champions Trophy 2009 and 2013.The umpire with most appearances in ODIs is Rudi Koertzen who stood in 209 matches. - Saina lost in final
Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal’s lost All England Badminton Championship. In final she was defeated by Spain’s Carolina Marin. However, Saina regained the world No. 2 ranking by virtue of that performance. In 2012, when Saina won the London Olympics bronze — the first women’s shuttler from India to win a singles medal — she was back at No. 2 for about three weeks.
Then, a combination of factors — injury and slump in form — saw Saina fall behind, but she still stayed in the top 10, and after a gap of three years, this star performer is now No. 2 again. - India beat Ireland by 8 wickets
Team India beat Ireland by 8 wickets in their Pool B, outing at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Chasing 260 runs, India achieved the target with 79 balls remaining. The duo put on a new record 174 runs for the first wicket for India at the World Cup.
With nine straight World Cup wins under their belt, the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led India stand only second to Ricky Ponting’s Australian side that registered 24 consecutive victories in the showpiece event.
India now stand second alongside Clive Lloyd’s West Indies in terms of consecutive victories in World Cup. The eight-wicket win against Ireland on 10th March was India’s ninth in the quadrennial extravaganza, the run starting with the victory over the West Indies in the previous edition.
They comfortably took the top spot in pool B as Dhoni also overtook former captain Sourav Ganguly, who had led the Men in Blue to eight consecutive World Cup wins in the mega event.
It was against the West Indies on March 6 that Dhoni overtook Ganguly for most overseas ODI wins as a captain. Dhoni’s India surpassed Ganguly’s record of 58 wins in 110 matches, at the WACA last week. Dhoni is also credited with most wins (12) by an Indian captain in World Cups. He has overtaken 1983 World Cup-winning skipper Kapil Dev (11), Mohammed Azharuddin (10) and Ganguly (9). - Sangakkara record, four consecutive centuries

4 Number of consecutive hundreds scored by Kumar Sangakkara, the first batsman to do so in ODI history. Six batsmen have previously scored hundreds in three successive ODIs.
Sangakkara is the only batsman to score four hundreds in a single World Cup. Mark Waugh, Matthew Hayden and Sourav Ganguly have scored three hundreds each in the World Cup, while no other batsman has scored more than two. - Karnataka won eighth Ranji title
Defending champions Karnataka clinched their eighth Ranji Trophy title as they thrashed their southern opponents Tamil Nadu by an innings and 217 runs on the last day of the Ranji Trophy cricket tournament final at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. - India defeated zimbabwe
India beat Zimbabwe by six wickets at in Auckland, New Zealand. Suresh Raina hit an unbeaten 110 as India made it six wins in Pool B
With this, India is the only country, in the pool B which won all matches
India also created another history, in all its league matches it made all out of all other teams
Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni created a record partnership of 196 runs.
Now India has won 10 straight world cup matches, the second best streak ever. The longest streak is Australia’s 25 matches between 1999 and 2011. - Roger Federer beats Novak Djokovic to win Dubai title
Roger Federer beat world number one Novak Djokovic 6-3 7-5 to win his seventh Dubai Championship title. The Swiss, playing in his 126th ATP final, served brilliantly throughout to trouble Djokovic and also pass 9,000 aces in singles matches.- Federer now leads his head-to-head meetings with Djokovic 20-17
- It was their fourth meeting in Dubai - Federer is 3-1 ahead
- Federer's previous Dubai final wins had come against Jiri Novak (2003), Feliciano Lopez ('04), Ivan Ljubicic ('05), Mikhail Youzhny ('07), Andy Murray ('12) and Tomas Berdych ('14)
- JagmohanDalmiya unanimously elected
JagmohanDalmiya is the new President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He was elected unopposed at the board’s 85th Annual General Meeting, held on 2nd March. Dalmiya, President of the Cricket Association of Bengal, has been elected president of the BCCI for the second time, and will hold office for the next three years.
Interim BCCI president ShivlalYadav chaired the meeting as president N Srinivasan was barred from contesting for the chief’s post by the Supreme Court.
The apex court had ruled that there should be no conflict of interest through a person holding a post in the regulatory body while having a commercial interest in events organized by it (Indian Premier League, in Srinivasan’s case). He could only cast his vote as president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association.
The Vice-Presidents who were elected were ML Nehru (representing the North Zone), G Ganga Raju (South), Gautam Roy (East), TC Mathew (West) and CK Khanna (Central), according to a press release from the BCCI. Former India off-spinner Yadav said that all decisions were approved unanimously. - Make activities, finances public: Sports Ministry to IOA, NSFs
In a bid to ensure transparency, the Sports Ministry made it mandatory for the Indian Olympic Association and the national federations to disclose their activities and finances online, failing which their recognition could be reviewed
In a letter written to IOA and National Sports Federations, the Ministry has said these instructions have also been made part of the National Sports Development Code of India, 2011.
The Ministry said it has been decided that the annual accounts of the previous financial year should be posted by the IOA and the NSFs during the current year as soon as they are finalised but latest by December 31. - Saina entered into All England finals
London Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal on 7th March scripted history by reaching the finals of the prestigious All England Badminton Championship with a straight-game victory over Sun Yu of China in the women’s singles competition
The World No. 3 Indian, who reached the semifinals of the event in 2010 and 2013, defeated the unseeded Sun 21-13 21-13 in a match that lasted for 50 minutes at the Barclaycard Arena.
Saina is now just one step away from joining Indian legends Prakash Padukone (1980) and P Gopichand (2001) who have bagged the prestigious title in the past.
