- ICC bans Mohammad Hafeez of Pakistan from bowling in international matches
The International Cricket Council, ICC has barred Pakistan off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect. The sport's governing body said in a statement that the decision to suspend Hafeez was taken after their findings that his action was illegal in the third ODI against Sri Lanka last month.
The ICC said their assessment revealed that the majority of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degree level of tolerance permitted under the regulations. Hafeez had been suspended on two previous occasions also for the same offence and he served a 12-month ban from July, 2015. - Yuki Bhambri beats Ramkumar Ramanathan to win ATP Challenger
India's tennis star Yuki Bhambri clinched his first title of the 2017 season on the ATP Challenger Tour following a come-from-behind win over compatriot Ramkumar Ramanathan in the final of the KPIT-MSLTA Challenger in Pune, on 18th November. - Indian women's hockey team wins Asia Cup title
The India women's hockey team on 5th November qualified for next year's World Cup by winning the Asia Cup hockey title. In a nail-biting final at Kakamigahara in Japan, they overcame China 5-4 via a shootout. At full time, both teams were level One-One. South Korea secured third place with a 1-0 win over Japan earlier in the day.
- Indian golfer Shiv Kapur wins Panasonic Open India
Shiv Kapur has clinched his first Asian Tour title in India. At the Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi on 5th November, he bagged the Panasonic Open by three strokes after bringing home a card of four-under 68 in the fourth and final round. - India wins T-20 series against New Zealand
India has won T-20 series against New Zealand. Three matches were held in series. First one was won by India, and second was won by New Zealand. The last Twenty-20 was won by India and clinched the series.
Bumrah was declared as Man of the match and the Man of the series. - Mary Kom wins gold medal in Asian Women's Boxing Championships
Five time world champion, Mary Kom notched up her fifth gold medal in 48 kg category in Asian Women's Boxing Championships at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on 8th November. This was Mary Kom’s fifth final in only six appearances, which means she remains unbeaten in the summit clash of the continental championship.
Up against North Korea's Kim Hyang Mi, the five-time world champion and Olympic bronze-medallist, Mary Kom prevailed in a unanimous 5-0 verdict to add another accolade to her already crowded cabinet. This is Mary Kom's first international gold medal since the 2014 Asian Games and her first medal in over a year. - HS Prannoy, Saina Nehwal win national titles in Badminton
H S Prannoy outwitted World No 2 and title favourite Kidambi Srikanth in a thrilling finale to claim the men's singles title at the 82nd Senior National Championship in Nagpur on 8th November.
Second seed Prannoy, achieved his career-best ranking of World No 11.
The pair of Satwik Sai Raj R and Ashwini Ponnappa showed beat top seed and World No 16 Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy 21-9, 20-22, 21-17 to clinch the mixed doubles crown.
Saina Nahwal clinches the women's singles title beating P.V.Sindhu in straight sets at the 82nd Senior National Championship in Nagpur. Saina defeated fifth seed Anura Prabhudesai while Sindhu beats Ruthvika Shivani in the semifinals. - Virat Kohli consolidates top spot in ICC rankings
Team India Captain Virat Kohli consolidated his position at the top of the table, while openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan moved up in the latest ICC T20I Player Rankings released in Dubai on on 8th November. Kohli scored 104 runs in the T20I series to guide India to a 2-1 win over New Zealand.
He gained 13 points and increased the gap with Australia's Aaron Finch to 40 points. Rohit and Dhawan who scored 93 and 87 runs in the three- match series moved up three places to 21st and 20 places to 45th respectively.
The Indian bowlers who moved up in ranking are pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, up two places to 26th, leg- spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, up 22 places to 30th and left-arm spinner Akshar Patel, up 17 places to 62nd.
In the ICC T20I Team Rankings, India has gained three points from the series but remain behind England on decimal points, in fifth place. - BCCI rejects NADA demand of testing Indian cricketers
In a stern response to India's anti-doping body NADA, the BCCI has said that they have no jurisdiction to conduct dopes tests on Indian cricketers.
In a letter written on November 8 to NADA chief Navin Agarwal, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri made it clear that there is no requirement for NADA to test its cricketers since the board is not a National Sports Federation (NSF) and its present anti-doping system is robust enough.
The BCCI response was prepared with instructions from Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators. Besides responding to the NADA chief, Johri also wrote back to the sports secretary, who had approached the BCCI in October to cooperate with NADA.
Mr. Johri also reasoned that since BCCI is an autonomous body affiliated to the International Cricket Council (ICC), it is only required to operate within the rules and regulations of the ICC. - French Open badminton: Kidambi Srikanth wins men's singles title
Eighth seeded Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth lifted the men's singles title of the French Open Superseries badminton in Paris on 29th October. This is his fourth title in the fifth superseries final. Srikanth beat Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the final.
Greysia POLL and Apriyani Rahayu won the Women's doubles title, defeating Lee Sottee and SHIN Seung Chen.
The Mixed Doubles title went to Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana NATSIR who beat Zheng Siwei and Chen Qingchen. - India beat New Zealand by 6 runs in 3rd ODI, clinch series 2-1
India beat New Zealand by 6 runs in the final ODI to win the three-match series 2-1. Chasing a victory target of 338 runs set by India in the third ODI game in Kanpur on 29th October, New Zealand made 331 for seven in 50 stipulated overs.
In the match Virat Kohli became the sixth Indian to complete 9,000 ODI runs, making him the fastest to get there. - Bopanna wins Erste Open, Myneni-Prashanth clinch Vietnam Open trophy
Rohan Bopanna won the Erste Open title in Vienna with Pablo Cuevas while the team of Saketh Myneni and Vijay Sundar Prashanth clinched the Vietnam Open trophy at the Ho Chi Minh City.
In Vienna, unseeded Bopanna and Cuevas beat Sam Querrey and Marcelo Demoliner. It was third title of the season for Bopanna, having won Chennai Open with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Monte Carlo Masters with Cuevas. - Mithali Raj rises to top spot in ICC batswomen ranking
India captain Mithali Raj on 30th October moved up one place to occupy the number one spot in the latest ICC ODI Cricket rankings for batswomen.
Ellyse Perry of Australia and Amy Satterthwaite of New Zealand also jumped one place each to be at second and third spots while Meg Lanning of Australia has dropped from first to fourth after missing the series against England due to injury. Among women bowlers, Jhulan Goswami remained on second spot behind Marizanne Kapp of South Africa.
Meanwhile, defending champion Australia's 2-1 victory over England in the ICC Women's Championship series helped them regain the top spot in the women's team rankings. England had displaced Australia from the top spot for the first time after the annual update earlier this month. - Virat Kohli regains top spot in ICC ODI rankings
Indian captain Virat Kohli has regained the top of the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen after logging career-high rating points, going past the iconic Sachin Tendulkar in the process. Kohli scored 263 runs in the New Zealand series, has reached 889 points, which is the best ever by an India batsman.
Kohli had lost the top spot 10 days ago to South African batsman AB de Villiers. Rohit Sharma's 174 runs in the series saw him reach a career-high rating of 799 points, though he remains in seventh position. Former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has risen one place to 11th in the rankings.
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reached a career-best third after finishing with six wickets in the series against New Zealand. The list for bowlers continues to be led by Pakistan pace bowler Hasan Ali. - Heena Sidhu wins 10-metre air pistol gold medal at Commonwealth Shooting Championships
Heena Sidhu clinched the 10-metre air pistol gold medal to give India a perfect start at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Brisbane on 1st November.
Sidhu shot a combined score of 626.2 to claim the top honours.
This was Sidhu's second successive international gold after she along with Jitu Rai, claimed the top position in the 10-metre air pistol mixed team event in the ISSF World Cup Finals in Delhi earlier this month.
Among other Indians, Deepak Kumar won a bronze medal in the 10-metre air rifle event.
London Olympic bronze-medallist Gagan Narang finished fourth, while Ravikumar ended fifth. - India's K Srikanth achieves career-best World No 2 ranking in badminton
India's shuttler Kidambi Srikanth has achieved career-best World Number 2 ranking. Srikanth has been rewarded for his sensational run this season as he grabbed the No. 2 ranking after jumping two places in the latest BWF ranking released on 2nd November.
Srikanth, who reached five finals and clinched four titles this year so far, now has 73,403 points, 4527 points away from World Champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, who heads the ranking list.
